Services we provide

Homeschooling aid

We understand the growing concern many parents have about the effects of large classrooms and institutionalized education. For this reason we started to offer homeschooling aid as our AM session. An indepth meeting with the student and parent(s) helps us understand what is required for the students progress. We then design a customised plan which will take our student through their academic journey. We often incorporate different homeschooling methods with local systems preferred by the parents (e.g. British, American, or Pakistani). The curriculum is completely student-centered with regular parent-tutor meetings where we discuss their progress and our mutual concerns.

After-school tutoring

For our PM session, we provide post-school care. This can include help with homework, clearing concepts taught at school, further practise, and remediation. Apart from this, we try to assess students to understand their academic strengths and obstacles, and find the best possible solution to help make them independent and mature learners.

Workshops

We have conducted many different workshops for children where we try to cover a large variety of topics such as languages (with a particular interest in the Urdu language), art, mental well-being, language learning skills, along with other academic and life skills. These Workshops are reoccurring, which means that if you have missed one in the past, there is a high chance it will be happening again soon, so do keep your eye out!

Kanzah Mahar & Varisha Ali

Founders, Head Tutors

Programs: Team

Kanzah and Varisha started Word Academics in 2018 when they realized the dire need for modern educational facilities away from the mainstream systems in place. They wanted to use their combined teaching experience of 17 years and create a safe space for children to get in touch with their inner learners. The two of them, along with their team of carefully chosen tutors constantly research and strengthen their teaching techniques to accomodate students no matter where they stand.

Kanzah has a BSc (Hon) in Psychology from Sheffield Hallam University where she also had the opportunity to train with Mental Health First Aid England. She is currently the owner and co-founder of Word Academics, where she teaches and works towards growth and development. Kanzah is undergoing a diploma in integrative counselling associated with Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB), a third year Alimiyyah student at Burooj Institute in Karachi, and continues to study Modern Standard Arabic at Qasid institute, Jordan.

Varisha began teaching in her late teens, while completing her BSc in Social Science. Her passion for teaching and helping children understand their true potential led her to work with children in Romania for a short while and later pursue her Masters in Education from the University of Sussex, England. While in England, she worked as a support worker for St. John’s School and College, which provides specialist education and care for children with Autism and challenging behaviour. She received First Aid Training and Specialist Service Training to better support the children in care. She has also completed her TESOL Core Certificate Program from TESOL International Association, USA. She is the owner and cofounder of Word Academics, where she teaches and works towards providing a safe space for children to grow and learn. She is currently an online student at Qasid Institute, Jordan partaking in an Arabic language diploma.
